The Flexible Respond Table

The Flexible Respond Table helps team member to overcome one of the most common mistaken perspectives concerning setting wards' rules and guarding them. One of the most common believes is that there should be rules and those rules should be guarded in a uniform form by the team members. Usually it's not possible. In many cases team members differ in their perspectives concerning specific rules in the ward, in even the same professional can react differently to the same behavior of a child at different days. We believe that flexibility is sometimes much more practical and useful than uniformity. But we also have to set some rules for this flexibility. This is exactly what the Flexible Respond Table can create.
The team members can define three different chunks of respond:

The "Absorption respond" – In those circumstances a team member will not react but will only note. For example a child is late for diner the nurse will note that in a short sentence "I see that you arrived late" or even say nothing just look at her watch and then at the child.

The "Dialogue respond" – The team member is trying to reach a specific agreement with the child. It doesn't mean that an agreement will be achieved properly but there should be a more clear respond about the Childs' behavior. For example a child refuses to enter his room the nurse will try to negotiate the time with him, but later on there will be a respond. In our believe a better respond would be from another team member. The respond could be according to the wards' rule or even a short sentence from another team member saying something like "I heard that yesterday you had troubles getting to your room…"

The "red lines respond" – the team member will react immediately according to the wards' regulation. The reaction could also be using NVR tools like SMS or a reparation act.
It is important to note that the FRT is for the team eyes only it is not and should not be a substitute for the wards' rules. The FRT is mostly used as an individual treatment plan and helps to create flexibility to the teams' reactions when needed.
